When the sun sets over Lake Zug and the barbecue is fired up: what makes this atmosphere so special for you?
The ship’s terrace is elegantly laid with white tablecloths, and the weather is usually glorious. As we sail towards the sunset, a stunning panorama unfolds, offering views of Mount Pilatus, the Jungfrau and the Rigi. A particular highlight is the live barbecue on the aft deck, serving specialities from the canton of Zug. When guests are comfortably sipping an Aperol Spritz in sunglasses-weather, squinting slightly against the low-hanging sun whilst tucking into something delicious from the barbecue, that’s summer at its best on the lake.

Culinary-wise, the Sunset BBQ cruise offers a wide range of dishes, from veal bratwurst to spare ribs. What’s particularly popular?
Most of our produce comes from Forster butchers in Zug, who are renowned for their high quality. A favourite, for example, is the famous Köbi bratwurst – a spicy pork bratwurst with a touch of spinach and chilli, the recipe for which is a closely guarded secret. We serve this with a variety of salads and homemade salad dressings, such as the Walchwiler Chriesi vinaigrette. Vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy, with Mediterranean vegetables, sweetcorn on the cob, rosemary potatoes and a varied salad buffet.

What makes a BBQ on a boat different from one on land?
Above all, it’s the special feeling of being out on the water. You leave everyday life behind on the shore and find yourselves together in your own little world out on the water. The breeze in your hair and the view of the Central Swiss countryside create an experience you simply can’t find on land.

Why do you think a BBQ always works – for example, as a corporate or event cruise?
A BBQ is straightforward, sociable and flexible. Depending on the occasion, guests can take their seats at set tables in the traditional style or move about freely at bar-style tables in a lounge setting, making it easier to strike up conversations with one another. With the all-you-can-eat BBQ, everyone can help themselves as they please. This relaxed format also provides plenty of opportunity for people to mingle. Added to this is our commitment to offering guests the best service in the canton of Zug.

How would you describe the Sunset BBQ cruise in three words?
Culinary excellence. Indescribable. Legendary.

What do you personally look forward to most on these evenings?
The many guests – many of whom are regulars, which makes us particularly happy. And, of course, the sunset; it never fails to amaze me. The Sunset BBQ Cruise is one of my personal favourites. As a self-confessed meat lover, I’m also looking forward to all the delicious food from the barbecue.
