Baar beer and us – a tasty duo

Baar Brewery is a close partner of Zugersee Schifffahrt.

A conversation with brewery marketing expert Veronika Hofmann.

Ms Hofmann, how did Baar beer actually find its way onto the ship?
Our Managing Director, Martin Uster, and Zugersee Schifffahrts Managing Director Philipp Hofmann know each other from the young Zug Chamber of Commerce. With the change in the ship's catering, which now focuses entirely on local products, we got the opportunity to come on board. That was in 2021.

You are not only suppliers, but also partners when it comes to (culinary) experiences ...?
Exactly, we always exchange event ideas before the season. Last year, for example, we came up with a jubilee beer edition for the 125th anniversary of the Zugersee Schifffahrt. The Burger & Baar Beer Tour was also the result of teamwork. After two years of Beer and Dine, a 5-course menu with beer accompaniment, we switched to Burger & Beer. Burgers and beer fit perfectly if you want to experience an uncomplicated event standing up. The first event was very successful and fully booked.

Burgers and beer are a "match made in heaven" – a wonderful food pairing. Which beers go with which types of burgers?
In general, lighter beers such as our Hopfemandli 1862 Original or our millet beer go well with lighter fare. Heartier dishes go well with stronger beers such as our Bügel-Spez Premium Hell or Erdmandli Amber. But our Urhell Naturtrüb or Höllbier Dunkel are also not to be neglected. Our Innerschwiizer Dinkelbier can certainly keep up with a spicy burger! By the way, there will be a beer sommelier on board to provide tips. But there's nothing like tasting - so guests can discover their favourite pairing for themselves.

Fresh air on the lake, an invigorating beer and a burger that I can compose myself to my own taste – spending an enjoyable evening together with friends. What more could you want?
